The Swansea Devil, also known as Old Nick, is a carving of Satan which was made in spite of St. Mary’s Church and perched on the building opposite over a hundred years ago.
The artist prophesied “𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱, 𝗺𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴” which later came true and he was left leering over the burnt remains of the church until he mysteriously disappeared.
He was later found by a local historian, although the Devil’s return wasn’t universally welcomed and currently resides at the Swansea Museum locked in a glass case 🔥
