Amy Jackson is a freelance illustrator currently living in Swansea, Wales. Amy grew up in Swansea, and studied art throughout her school years, despite her struggle with Selective Mutism. She studied an Art and Design Foundation Course at Llwyn-y-Bryn College in 2015, and attended Trinity Saint David’s University in 2016, and graduated with a BA (Hons) in Illustration, where she was highly commended for her On The Cards entry. From there, Amy took a year off studying and has been working as a freelance illustrator, focusing on building her portfolio.
Focusing on licensing and editorial illustration, Amy’s work consists of a mixture of different subjects, although she loves anything to do with nature. To create her illustrations, she uses a mixture of pencils and digital roughs, using a range of fine liners to outline her work and in a pointillism style, beings to fill in the illustration dot by dot, resulting in an image that consists of thousands of dots. To get the illustration print ready, she uses Adobe Creative Cloud to clean up the lines and to add colour if needed.
When not working, Amy is often attending music concerts and enjoys hiking or long walks in nature which lends itself to her drawings.
Amy has an online store where she posts a limited number of products and prints, as well as a wholesale account on Redbubble. She often has stalls at craft fairs and pop up shops, so keep an eye out for any upcoming events on her social media pages or to see past events, click here.
